Why does Allied Waste Services pick up my recycling when I pay the Township?
The Township contracts with Allied Waste Services for recycling services.


Where do I get my recycling container?
The recycling containers are furnished by the Township and may be picked up at Town Hall.


How often is recycling picked up?
Recycling is picked up every other week.  For the current recycling calendar click here.

What time should I have my recycling at the curb?
Recycling pick up begins at 6:00AM.


What paper items can I recycle?
Newspaper (including glossy inserts)
Typing, writing and computer paper
Discarded mail fliers
Magazines and catalogues
Brown paper bags
Telephone books
Envelopes (including windowed envelopes)
Paperboard boxes (shoe and cereal boxes)
Corrugated cardboard boxes


How do I prepare my paper items for recycling?
Remove any staples, strapping or paper clips
Remove all plastic liners from paperboard boxes
Break down and/or cut to fit in brown paper bag
Do not place in plastic bags or corrugated cardboard boxes
Place paper items in brown paper bags


What paper items are not acceptable?
Napkins, tissues, paper towels, or wax paper
Used paper plates or any paper with food or food stains
Wax coated or freezer boxes
Carbon paper


What metal items can I recycle?
Tin cans
Aerosol cans
Aluminum foil and cans


How do I prepare my metal items for recycling?
Rinse clean
Remove labels
Flatten, if possible
Make sure aerosol cans are completely empty; remove caps


What metal items are not recycable?
Paint cans and propane cylinders
Foilbacked paper, gum wrappers


What glass items can I recycle?
Clear glass bottles and jars


How do I prepare my glass items for recycling?
Remove lids and discard
Rinse clean
Remove any metal rings, plastic or foam labels (paper labels do not need to be removed)


What glass items are not recyclable?
Colored glass
Dishes or ceramics
Light bulbs
Mirrors


What plastic items can I recycle?
Plastic containers with the #1PET and the #2HDPE symbols


How do I prepare my plastic items for recycling?
Remove and discard caps
Wash all food residue, heavy soil, grease or soapy liquids from containers


What plastic items are not recyclable?
Cottage cheese, yogurt, margarine or deli containers
Bottles that contained automotive fluids or hazardous materials
Styrofoam cups, plates, peanuts, packaging, etc.
Plastic bags such as garbage, food storage, drycleaning, etc.
